Taonga Takaro

We are so lucky to have the support of Katarina Te Tau in our PE and Health unit on preparation for competition and recreational activities. Katarina has been teaching us Taonga Takaro (traditional Māori games) which so far include hand games/rhythm and co-ordination with poi toa/netball.

Here is some of the action from today:

We've decided to make our own poi toa over the next few days so if you've got any of the following materials spare then we'd love to use them at school:

  • plastic bags
  • rope (thick-ish)
  • duct tape
  • old tarpaulin
