Locked in to Learning

Don't forget to check your child's blog to see their posts about camp. Everyone should have completed one by the end of today.

There have been some fantastic pieces of learning coming out of Room 4 students today. Kayla K produced this explanation of how to solve addition problems using a number line, which I know some other students at Gladstone School will find helpful when they need to learn the same strategy:

Extending on from one reading groups work on the Sun, we've been inspired to learn more about Space (in this group). Today we watched this video about what would happen if our moon was replaced by the planets. It's a great visual to show the scale of the planets in space:

Don't forget to come in and see (or join in) some of our learning during class time. It is fantastic watching the students in action and the amount of learning taking place in one day.

Bivouac Building

There is quite a bit of challenge in designing and building a shelter, out of limited supplies, that everyone agrees on and feels they have contributed to. This group have done an excellent job at it!

Confidence Course

Groups are working through the challenges of the confidence course. Making sure they help each other to solve problems. They're doing great!

Tubing

The Waikanae river is proving to be a hit with everyone.  Some good examples of peer support and perseverance at this activity.

Kayaking

Teams have shown great resilience and teamwork in the kayaking. We've been hearing plenty of encouraging remarks and idea sharing on the pond.

Rifle shooting

We're at the rifle range waiting to hit the bullseye. Some sharp shooting year 5's have already been showing off their skills and hit their targets dead centre

Water Sliding

The water slide has been a big hit with everyone.

So much fun!

Here are some of the team getting geared up for the Go Karts
