Rahi and the Patupaiarehe
We have been learning this story in class. This is the story that underpins our new favourite sport: Ki-o-rahi!!
Kia Ora! This blog will celebrate and display mahi/work from nga tamariki over this year. We love being asked questions about what we're doing, so don't be shy!

Writing by Lily Irwin
On a misty day in 1902 the wind blew the smog into my cold hard face. I ran like I was about to be dissolved into the cold hazy wind.
That was not just me dreaming, it was me realising I was dissolving. I was running so fast that I couldn’t feel the warm squishy feeling, under my feet .
The sky cleared and it was beautiful. I had a cold hard feeling it was going to turn, and it did within 2 seconds. The sky was thick with clouds. I was miles away from home. It was getting dark and it was starting to drizzle with rain.
I was stranded in the dark with no food, water, light and faith. So I lay down under a big Beech tree. It took me a while to get to sleep. Finally I was out like a light. When it reached morning I didn’t know what way to go, I was stuttering to myself what have I done I am lost……… My heart was shivering with shock. It was freezing cold and I was so scared. It felt like I was blank because I was starving, shivering and thirsty. I was walking for hours. I was malnourished. I gave up, I was going to die. I lay down on the sand staring at the sun. I closed my eyes.

Hide 'n' Go Seek by Eva Rose
I was hiding behind the sofa. I could hear everyone running to a hiding place and counting .1.2.3.4.5. I snuggled up like a hedgehog in a bush 6.7.8.9.10. Ready, set go! I tried to not make a sound, but just then I saw a big spider crawling down my arm and I let out a little scream. I knew the finders had heard me scream, so I quietly crawled out from behind the sofa and the closest new hiding spot that I could see was behind the little table. But that was too easy and they would find me.
Hide and Seek by Ella McWilliam
I was playing a game of hide and seek with my friends. 1, 2, 3, the counting had started. I ran to find a place to hide. It seemed like forever to find one so I darted into the living room as fast as my feet would take me the only place to hide was behind the the couch and against the dusty wall. Then there was the sound of an unhappy giant waiting and waiting for it’s tea then came the shaking from underneath me. I waited and waited for the earthquake to stop. While I waited I could hear the deafenng sound of all the plates and glass cups hitting the ground in a thud. Then it stopped. All I could hear was silence. Then came the sound of foot steps. I came out of my hiding place. It was mum and dad... then I saw my friends, then one of my friends shouted found you!

Te Reo Māori
In class today we did some Te Reo Māori. We sang two waiata. One about colors and one about Māori vowel sounds. The one about Māori vowel sounds has actions and Viena and Phyllis knew the moves and showed us them.
Here are some videos from when we were singing.
We also passed the rākau around and spoke only in Te Reo Māori about what it was, what colour it was and whether there was one or more of it.

Cluster Athletics Schedule
Kia ora whānau!
Here is the schedule for the Cluster Athletics this coming Friday 14th November at Carrington Park in Carterton.
We are still desperate for parent supervision, so if you are able to support the students for this event we'd be really grateful. Otherwise if you are only able to pop in for a while and would like to time it for certain events, see the schedule below:
