The visual language of cricket.

This year we are looking at Homegrown and our focus this term is Homegrown events and resources. So, because the Cricket World Cup is a Homegrown event currently happening around our country, We Are Learning To identify the visual language of cricket umpires!

Perhaps you can work out what each of our umpires are signalling below:

7 comments:

  1. Ollie is signalling a six
Sophie is signalling out or maybe a bye
    Phoebe is signalling a six
    Abi is signalling a wide
Baxter is signalling a no ball
    Summer is signalling a four
    Hamish is signalling out
    Joel is signalling a wide
    Rachel is signalling out
Anika is signalling a leg bye

  2. I am no cricket watcher - but I could work out most of the actions from the fantastic umpire modelling in the photos. Thanks to Conall you filled in my gaps in language. All I thought of was .... could you turn those "poses" into a sequence and set it to a soundtrack - the sorts of sounds you might hear at Homegrown events like a cricket game.

  4. What clever information you have shown about cricket umpiring signs. I'll know which room to visit when I need help with following the cricket.
